Nassau, Bahamas!

We left the Berry Islands Sunday morning to head to Nassau. When we left the inlet, we had really big waves on our bow, so that made for a rough ride. However, after the water became deeper, it wasn't as bad. The reason the waves were so bad coming out of the inlet was because we had winds from the east, and the tide was going out. The inlet faced the east, which would normally have pushed the water in the inlet, but since the tide was going out, there was opposing winds and currents. We did some fishing on the way to Nassau, and we caught a Mahi-Mahi, but it tossed the hook and got away. It was really pretty, though, and we were all glad to see something that wasn't barracuda!

We arrived at Nassau around 2:30. We decided to take a slip at a marina, and we were able to do some laundry. Also, we had our mail delivered here, so we were all excited to get that. That evening, Michael, Mom and I walked around the town.

The next day, we decided to go to Atlantis. Atlantis is a huge resort hotel with a waterpark and aquarium. The aquarium was really neat, filled with sharks and rays and all different types of fish. Outside, there was a shark tank with a glass covered walkway through the middle. You could walk through the tank and see the sharks swim over the glass tube.

At the water park, there were several water slides, both with tubes and without. Some of the slides went through a shark tank, so that was really cool! Also, there was a lazy river, and a not-so lazy river. The not-so lazy river was called The Current, and was filled with rapids and waves. We spent all of Monday at Atlantis with Ruahk. We were able to get a slip at the marina there, and, since check out time wasn't till 11 Tuesday morning, we went back and did some of our favorite rides this morning.

This afternoon we provisioned and are preparing to head to the Exumas tomorrow. Internet is limited in the Exumas, but hopefully we'll be able to use the SPOT tracker to let you all know where we are!
